We’re not just editors, we’re also moms who have given clean vitamins to our kids for years. These are our picks for kids’ fiber supplements with natural ingredients that are free from unnecessary sugar, dyes, and additives

As a parent, I’m always looking for anything to make my son’s life easier, healthier, and safer. From time to time, your little one might experience uncomfortable complications such as constipation, which is where a children’s fiber supplement comes in. These can promote regular bowel movements, and fiber is also proven to help with weight control, prevent heart disease and diabetes, and even lower chances of getting some types of cancer.

Fruits, veggies, beans, and whole grains are often recommended for adding more natural fiber into your child’s diet. But as we all know, picky eaters don’t always want dietary fibers. If you’ve noticed those nutritional gaps, you’re not alone — most American children and adults don’t get enough fiber from food alone. When in doubt, trust in these best-selling fiber supplements designed specifically for kids.

What makes fiber supplements safe for kids?

Some fiber supplements are considered safe for children, but the experts at Kaiser Permanente say natural fiber supplements are safest (though they could make your child feel bloated). Keep in mind that the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says, “food-based, natural fibers are recommended over supplements.”

If you can’t get the most natural source of dietary fiber, talk to your child’s doctor about taking a fiber supplement. The AAP also notes that ingesting fiber supplements without enough water can actually worsen your child’s constipation. Make sure your little one stays well-hydrated and follow instructions carefully if you choose to offer a fiber supplement. In more extreme cases, your doctor might prescribe a stool softener or laxative.

Our criteria:

Our team has tested and researched dozens of supplements for kids and scoured thousands of customer reviews to find the best clean fiber supplements for children that are dye-free, formulated without any added or unnatural sugar, and are easy to take. We regularly update this list with emerging options that meet the following criteria:

 • CLEAN INGREDIENTS | Each of these options is made with natural and organic ingredients — and is free of additives, dyes, synthetics, and allergens making them safe and beneficial for your kiddos.
 • LOW OR NO SUGAR | The last thing we want is for our kids’ vitamins to be loaded with sugar. We’ve ensured each of these supplements contains no or very low amounts of sugar.
 • TASTES GOOD & EASY TO SWALLOW | Vitamins that taste good and are easy to swallow help our children get their daily dose of nutrients without any fuss. We’ve researched and can confirm each of these tastes great.

Fiber isn’t the only kid-friendly supplement we’ve written about. You can also browse the best organic kids’ multivitamins.

1. Hiya

Best For | Multiple children or picky eaters
Active Ingredients | Prebiotic fiber blend (organic inulin, resistant vegetable fiber, dragon fruit, psyllium husk), organic pineapple juice, mango fruit, lime fruit, pink Himalayan salt

Picky eaters will meet their match with Hiya’s fruity drink mix. The brand’s Kids Daily Fiber+ offers up a daily dose of fiber with an “Island Punch” flavor, courtesy of natural fibers from a blend including dragon fruit and psyllium husk. Pineapple juice, and mango sweeten the deal, and the scoopable products are suited for little ones 2 and older. Simply scoop it, mix it with water, and prepare for a fiber boost in your child’s diet. Parents will also appreciate that there’s zero added sugar, it’s third-party tested, and even scored a Purity Award from the Clean Label Project.

Our editors have waxed poetic about how much we love Hiya, and with good reason. Their supplements are colorful and approachable (The inviting lime green container! The free stickers!), a secret ingredient for any child-friendly product. And for the parents, there’s convenience and a budget-friendly approach to ordering supplements for one, two, or three kids at a time. The company has thought of virtually everything, too, creating a multivitamin, daily probiotic, green powder, and immune system sticks (all of which received a seal of approval from contributing editor Stephanie Fallon).

Best For | Older kids
Active Ingredients | Nine probiotic strains and a fiber-based prebiotic
Daily Dose | One sachet poured and mixed into food or drink
Prices Starting At | $39.99 for a 30-day supply

For a versatile flavor, consider nabbing these sachets from Seed. Each one is powered up with nine probiotic strains and a fiber-based prebiotic, and all you need to do is tear, pour, and add it to your child’s food or drink. Just make sure you only mix it into room temperature or cold items — not anything hot. The brand recommends consuming the supplement within 30 minutes and offering it to your child at the same time each day. If your child loves it, you can use it for years. The product is made for children from age 3 to 17.

Seed products are rigorously tested for more than 20 allergens, including sugar, soy, gluten, dairy, and nuts. Each serving will provide your child with 5 grams of fiber, and the key benefits promoted are gastrointestinal immunity, dermatological health, and respiratory health. Anecdotally, several parents have gushed about this product in the reviews section, sharing that their children experienced fewer sick days and resolved skin issues such as eczema. Who doesn’t love a few bonus benefits, besides the more obvious bowel movement perk?

What kid doesn’t love gummies? Made just for your favorite picky eater, Grüns Kids gummy packets are easy to throw in a lunch box and are offered in a strawberry-forward original flavor or an alternative that’s reminiscent of mango sorbet. It should be noted that these are technically labeled as “Superfoods Green Gummies,” not a fiber-specific supplement. That said, each serving delivers 4 grams of dietary fiber, making it a solid source to fill those gaps (Not to mention, it’s one of our editors’ go-to immune vitamins, too.)

To help you save even more, you can purchase a subscription for up to five kids and score up to a whopping 52 percent off your order. (That’s up to 840 gummies at more than half-off!). For anyone concerned about too much sugar in their little ones’ diets, there are also sugar-free gummies. If you’re tempted to try it, fear not — Grüns makes an adult version for kids at heart, too.

Vegan

Best For | Flavorless supplement
Active Ingredients | Probiotic, wheat dextrin, inulin, kiwi fruit powder

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the most recommended probiotic brand among pediatricians. For more than 30 years, Culturelle has provided probiotics supporting digestive health and immunity for everyone in the family. Similar to the mix-in from Seed, Culturelle Kids Probiotic + Fiber Packets are flavorless powders you can add to room temperature or cold foods and drinks. The brand suggests stirring it into yogurt or applesauce for best results. And unlike others on our list, it’s safe for babies 1 year and older, and they can take it up to three times per day.

There are two options available for purchase: a 24- or 60-pack. One-time purchases are a bit pricier, or you can subscribe and save 10% on your order. Perhaps the most accessible fiber supplement on the market, you can easily find it at your local Walmart, Target, CVS, and Walgreens.

Customer Review | “All I need for my little one to have daily movements. She is 5 and has been using this for almost a year. She watches me put it in her drink and doesn’t mind because she doesn’t taste it. If I forget and miss a day, she doesn’t have a movement that day or it comes out harder. This is how I know it works!” – MercuryMom (Read more reviews.

6. Begin Health

American made
Doctor approved
Third party tested

Best For | Fiber supplement with HMOs
Active Ingredients | HMOs, chicory root fiber
Daily Dose | One packet per day for kids 1-3, up to two packets per day for kids 4 and up
Prices Starting At | $33.96 for a 28-pack

Designed as a better-for-you laxative, Begin Health’s Daily Growing Up Prebiotics are fiber supplements many parents shared their doctors recommended. The most unique aspect of this powder is the 2’-FL HMOs, or human milk oligosaccharide, which is “the most abundant prebiotic in breast milk,” per the brand. As for the fiber element, each serving has 3 grams of chicory root fiber. These two main ingredients work together to support healthy digestion and more gentle bowel movements.

If you’re interested in testing out whether the supplement works for your child, start slow. Begin Health advises that parents administer half of a packet at first and gradually increase the amount over the next several days. When you’re mixing, add the flavorless powder to milk, water, or another drink. It can also work with snack foods like yogurt. These are available in packs with 28, 56, and 112 servings. If you select the second option, the family size is offered in two additional flavors: strawberry creamsicle and banana fudgesicle. While it’s allergen-friendly, this product may contain traces of milk so it’s not considered dairy-free.

Customer Review | “I added Begin Health to a smoothie for my son and it was obvious it worked! Tasteless so it was an easy add-on. Thank you for a great product.” – Hannah G. (Read more reviews.

7. Smarty Pants

Gluten free
Soy free
Third party tested
Vegetarian

Best For | Adding more veggies to your child’s diet
Active Ingredients | Organic greens blend, inulin, pectin, citric acid
Daily Dose | One to two gummies per day
Prices Starting At | $20.70 for a one-month supply

Here’s a fun fact about the Smarty Pants gummies: Consuming two of them will give your child the same amount of fiber as three cups of kale. That’s because of their organic greens blend (a powerhouse trio of kale, broccoli, and spinach) and chicory root fiber. You’ll love all the greens, and they’ll love that they’re hidden behind a delicious mixed berry flavor.

This product is best for kids 4 years and older. During the weeklong trial period, start with one gummy per day before increasing the dose to two daily. For even more supplemental support, you can add the brand’s multivitamin or find the best of both worlds in the Kids Plus Multi & Fiber. Need a little more peace of mind? The brand has also received a Purity Award from the Clean Label Project. Order every month, two months, or three months for bonus savings.

The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.

We’ve researched and tested lots of produce delivery boxes offering convenient subscriptions of organic, fresh veggies from sustainable farms. These are our favorites.

Looking to freshen up your plate this year? Why not start with a produce subscription box. They’re great for the environment (less international shipping), fantastic for local farmers (less food waste), and good for your budget. No shade to conventional grocery stores though; shop where you can, however works best for you!

What are the benefits of organic fruit and veggie subscriptions?

Getting enough fruits and vegetables in our diets can be tough. Thankfully, produce delivery boxes makes it easier. They help us gain access to a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that are more local, seasonal and fresh than what’s available at most grocery stores. Many produce delivery services utilize local farms and markets to gather fruits and vegetables to deliver in the quickest and shortest distance possible. This ensures higher levels of freshness and better quality produce. (Not to mention, you won’t have to leave the house to visit a grocery store or farmers market!) Produce delivery services typically prioritize organic and sustainable farming practices, helping farming communities thrive.

Having your fruits and veggies delivered can also help limit food waste. Since many produce subscription services work with surplus fruit, or sell “ugly” vegetables that don’t sell in stores, you’ll get the same nutritious foods at a lesser cost while preventing surplus fruit from heading to landfills. You’ll also reduce your food waste through pre-portioned amounts of food delivered based on your needs and preferences. These boxes are bringing fresh, seasonal goods to the forefront, rescuing produce from landfills, and making delivery more convenient than ever. Win-win.🏆

Our criteria:

Our editors have personally used dozens of clean and organic food subscription services over the past ten years. These are our favorite brands for organic produce that come fresh from sustainable farms. We’ve included options that are accessible to wide swaths of the country (and beyond!) based on their delivery ranges and cost. We regularly add emerging favorites to this list when they meet the following criteria:

 • ORGANIC/FRESHNESS | Our editors have tested most of the boxes ourselves, in our own kitchens to ensure the freshness of the produce is up to standard. While not all of these boxes offer organic produce, we’ve ensured every option sources locally for optimal freshness.
 • DELIVERY RANGES | It’s important for produce delivery boxes to be as widely accessible as possible, especially in areas where it can be tough to find fresh, local fruits and vegetables. These produce delivery boxes are available for delivery across most regions in the US/UK.
 • SUSTAINABILITY | Each of these produce delivery box services utilizes sustainable practices in their farming, delivery, and packaging.
 • AFFORDABLE | For many, organic produce feels like a luxury. Since we think it should be accessible for all, we’ve tried to include options suitable for smaller budgets that you can easily pause and cancel.

We’ve outfitted our home kitchens with nontoxic accessories and appliances for years — these are our top picks for toaster ovens that are PFAS-free with safe materials.

Sometimes it’s easier to heat up food in the toaster oven — and often, it’s even more delicious. Everything from chicken tenders to veggies gets deliciously crispy in the toaster oven. Not to mention that you can cut down on cook time and resources. Instead of heating up your oven (and your whole kitchen!) to cook a single salmon fillet, an air fryer or toaster oven — also sometimes dubbed a convection oven — allows you to quickly cook smaller meals to perfection. While many options on the market contain coatings, plastic pieces, and other questionable materials, there are more and more safe options hitting the shelves so you don’t have to worry about anything besides getting the perfect cook for your meal. So we’ve researched and rounded up options that are nontoxic and made with safe materials.

Why choose a nontoxic toaster oven for your kitchen?

Conventional toaster ovens and air fryers often are made with nonstick surfaces, which traditionally can contain PTFE, PFAS, and PFOA coatings. PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances) are artificial substances created by DuPont (the makers of Teflon) in the late 1930s. They’re found in a myriad of products, from nonstick cookware to makeup. PTFE and PFOA are similar man-made chemicals that aid in nonstick. The problem with all of these chemicals is that they’re forever chemicals, meaning they’re nearly impossible to get rid of. They also pose certain health risks when exposed — not exactly something you want in your food every time you cook! Choosing a nontoxic toaster oven is a great way to reduce your exposure to these chemicals.

What materials should you look for in a nontoxic toaster oven?

When you’re shopping for a nontoxic toaster oven, it’s best to look for materials like stainless steel, aluminum, and ceramic coating. Ceramic coating is a great chemical-free coating that’s nonstick but without all of the harmful chemicals. Stainless steel is good, but you want to make sure it’s a high-quality stainless steel that isn’t galvanized stainless steel or coated with PTFE. One way to check if the product is truly free from these chemicals is to look for the chemical disclosures, if possible.

Our criteria:

Our editors have filled their kitchens with safe, durable cookware and appliances for years. We’ve relied on our first-hand experience, corresponding with the top brands, and reading thousands of customer reviews to make our selections of the best toaster ovens on the market. The options on this list are all PFAS-free, made with safe materials like stainless steel, and designed to last. We regularly update this list with new favorites that meet the following criteria.

 • NONTOXIC | Not only are these toaster ovens free from PFAS, PTFE, and PFOA coatings, they’re also made with stainless steel interiors and exteriors that won’t leach harmful chemicals into your food.
 • SAFETY & DESIGN | All of the toaster ovens on this list feature thoughtful, safe designs — from cool-touch exteriors and automatic shut-off to precise temperature control and easy-to-clean interiors.

Customer Review | “This is a beautifully designed air fryer. The build quality is great like all Breville products I have used. The double deck makes it easy to cook different things at the same time. The only bad thing is that the air fryer heats up on the outside to the extent that I’ve accidentally touched and burned myself a couple times. Key Takeaways

 • Ghia is a non-alcoholic aperitif and cocktail alternative that comes in four flavors: original Ghia with soda, lime & salt, Ghia ginger, and sumac & chili.
 • Crafted after all the qualities of a traditional aperitif, Ghia is complex and not just a juice. Look for your preferred botanical, dry, bitter, or spicy notes to choose which flavor.
 • A 4-pack starts at $24, and you can purchase packs of up to 108 on their website.

First things first: I love a cocktail. Preferably something floral, sour, and slightly bitter—and during the summertime, these drinks shine. Gin and tonic? Aperol spritz? Sign me up. Best of all, cocktails usually come with making memories with loved ones, chatting and laughing around a table.

“It turns out that skipping the booze doesn’t have to mean a sad little can of soda water.”

But not all evenings need alcohol. I love going to dinner or hanging with friends on a weeknight—but I don’t love the way I feel when I get up for work at 7:30 the next morning if I had a couple of drinks.

It turns out that skipping the booze doesn’t have to mean a sad little can of soda water. Enter Ghia.

What’s the deal with Ghia?

Ghia launched in 2020 with a non-alcoholic aperitif. The tart, bitter, fruity liquor substitute has all the botanical complexity of a typical aperitif, with notes of yuzu, fig, ginger, rosemary, and lemon. You can serve it straight up over ice, or as the brand recommends: one part Ghia, three parts bubbles of your choice (like soda water or kombucha).

Unlike some other spirit alternatives on the market, Ghia doesn’t claim to give you any sort of buzz with adaptogens, hemp or CBD. Rather, they focus on the flavor. Aperitifs are meant to whet the appetite, so they’re usually low ABV and complexly dry, bitter, and botanical rather than sweet. They are served over ice or in spritz form—popular aperitifs include Campari, Aperol, and Lillet.

“Unlike some other spirits alternatives on the market, Ghia doesn’t claim to give you any sort of buzz with adaptogens or hemp or CBD.”

Notably, Ghia’s branding is fantastic. Ghia was founded by Melanie Marasin, who, before starting her own venture, helped build brands like Dig Inn and Glossier (makes sense, right?). Growing up, she spent her summers near the Mediterranean, making homemade limoncello with her mom and grandmother. Aperitivo, which refers to the hours after work but before dinner when friends or family gather for a drink and a snack, is “a way of life,” in the Mediterranean, Marasin says on Ghia’s website. To her, aperitivo means connecting with loved ones, letting loose, laughing, and making memories. That’s why she created Ghia: “a drink you’d remember in the morning.”

In 2021, Ghia took the legwork out of making a Ghia cocktail, releasing Le Spritz. They now sell five flavors of these eight-ounce drinks—original Ghia with soda, lime & salt, Ghia ginger, Blood Orange, and Sumac & Chili. They also sell two apértifs.

Our Review of Ghia’s Flavors

Ghia’s Sumac & Chili Le Spritz: On first sip, it’s spicy. Which I absolutely love, but if you hate spice, you might want to try a different flavor. It’s a wasabi-like spice—it bites hard and fast but dissipates just as quickly. The flavor profile on the sumac & chili spritz is fantastic. The satisfying chili hotness gives way to a milder gingery spice before the sumac hits, tangy and citrusy like freshly squeezed lemon, but a bit more floral and earthy. “Sharp and fiery like a night at the Cha Cha,” the brand describes the flavor.

Lime & Salt (L): A tried and true classic and a favorite for summer months. This one is crisp and salty — “like a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean” — spritzed with fresh lime and a dash of sea salt.

Ghia Ginger (R): The bestseller and for obvious reasons. The ginger beer gives it a bite, and the dates add a subtle sweetness.

Ghia Soda (L): The brand’s signature bitter apéritif, spritzed. It’s tart from the citrus and is fantastic over ice. Going to try this with sugar on the rim next time!

Blood Orange (R): The sun-ripened blood orange in this spritz gives it a dark, moody color, and its flavors are bold yet balanced. The most “cocktail vibe” of all the spritzes and something that’s great for slow sipping at a holiday party or on a winter night.

How to drink Ghia

In terms of creating an alcohol replacement, Ghia has hit the nail on the head. But they haven’t pigeonholed themselves to just an audience of folks who don’t drink—I like a cocktail on weekends and special occasions, I’d definitely reach for a Ghia instead of a second or third drink, or for an afternoon or weeknight hang that needs a touch of alcohol-free finesse. It scratches that cocktail itch.

“I like a cocktail on weekends and special occasions, I’d definitely reach for a Ghia instead of a second or third drink.”

While I drank some of my Ghia spritzes while cooking dinner, they were also perfect on-the-go—I threw one in my bag for an outdoor Shakespeare performance in the park one evening, and for a weeknight picnic along the river with some friends. And I’ll definitely bring one to the beach next time I go.

A round table with three glasses of red drink, non-alcoholic spirit bottles, cans, a carton, and a white vase with yellow flowers.

You can purchase 12-packs, 36-packs, and even 108-packs of Le Spritz via Ghia’s website, or you can find your closest local vendor to try the product with a 4-pack for $24. I don’t feel this way about many of the products I review, but I’m excited to buy more Le Spritz at the store. And I’m even more excited for the cute summer nights I’ll drink them on. 🙂

99 Sober Activities To Enjoy Instead Of Drinking https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/sober-things-to-do-instead-of-drinking-alcohol/ https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/sober-things-to-do-instead-of-drinking-alcohol/#comments Mon, 02 Mar 2026 17:51:58 +0000 Want to be a little more intentional about how and when we drink — or don’t? Here are our favorite sober activities to do instead.

The post 99 Sober Activities To Enjoy Instead Of Drinking appeared first on The Good Trade.

Everywhere I turn, there’s a happy hour — or an innocuous “let’s grab a drink” text from a friend I haven’t seen in years. And of course, there’s the third space, which is regaining importance as many of us turn toward screen-free hobbies and activities. (My own third space happens to be the open-air brewery four blocks from my home.) While many of these spaces still center around drinking, we’re also seeing sober activities gain popularity — coffee parties, anyone?

This cultural shift reflects a growing awareness of alcohol’s impact on our bodies. According to a recent Gallup poll, only 54 percent of U.S. adults say they drink — the lowest rate in nearly a century.

More and more of us are evaluating our consumption thoughtfully and becoming intentional about how and when we drink. The reason doesn’t matter, and neither does the duration. Some people choose sobriety for life, while others move in and out of sober seasons over time.

Wherever you fall on the sobriety spectrum, here are some of my favorite ways to connect and unwind with 0 percent ABV. And if you’re new to a sober-curious lifestyle, you’ll love these non-alcoholic beverages and wine alternatives.

First, an important note: Beyond habits, alcohol addiction is serious and has severe consequences for the communities it impacts. If you or someone you love is struggling, using alcohol to numb feelings regularly, or is regularly and negatively affected by drinking, seek out a local support group or call a hotline to find the best ways to help.

1. Establish a daily meditation or mindfulness habit — you can schedule it for moments when you are particularly craving a cold one.

2. Get good at crafting mocktails. You can make simple syrups (here is a simple one to start with), use your soda maker, and add beautiful garnishes for the full treatment. Here are some fun recipes to try out.

3. Go on a photo walk and see your neighborhood through a new lens. Bring a pal along and make it a social call.

4. Participate in a community cleanup and meet your neighbors. Here is a resource for our Los Angeles friends, but here is a handy guide to planning a cleanup no matter where you’re at.

5. Go camping, even if it’s only in your backyard (or on your patio, if it’s safe to do so). Hey — who says you can’t cook s’mores over a candle?

6. Kick back and read a collection of poetry, and allow yourself to read slowly and reflect on the experience and meaning of each poem.

7. Or if you’re feeling inspired, give writing your own poetry a try. It doesn’t have to be good — just try putting pen to paper and see what you discover!

8. Drop some eucalyptus oil in the diffuser, and give yourself a professional-grade facial at home (here’s how).

9. If you are out and about and find yourself at a bar, ask the bartender for soda water with lime. You’ll have an inconspicuous drink to sip on through the evening!

“Go camping, even if it’s only in your backyard (or on your patio, if it’s safe to do so).”

10. Go to your temple, church, or mosque. Or spend the evening at home in prayer. This does not have to be connected to a particular religious practice — quiet reflection and gratitude are universal. Learn more about creating a spiritual practice even if you aren’t religious.

11. Plan a trip, or make a moodboard for your dream vacation.

12. Break out an old game, book, or activity you enjoyed as a child (Pokémon or mini-golf, anyone?).

13. Give yourself the gift of having an event to look forward to, by browsing sites like Groupon. Schedule a spa day, class, or outing based on what deals you can find.

14. Start a Substack newsletter about a topic you’re passionate about. Spend your free time learning more about it so that you can share even more info!

15. Become a volunteer or a mentor for youths. (Psst — you can even volunteer online).

16. Sip on some of these non-alcoholic beverage alternatives instead.

17. Go to breakfast; if you can, snag takeout from your favorite local diner and set up a brunch picnic in the nearest park. This’ll have you awake and walking first thing — just not the “walk of shame.” 😂

18. Or, host brunch at your home with elaborate fixings. You can make a waffle bar, offer fresh-squeezed orange juice, and finally break out that good coffee you’ve been holding on to (better to share with friends, no?).

19. Or, skip the food altogether and host a coffee or tea cupping. Invite your guests to bring their favorites and discuss the experience together.

“Do a mental health check in. How are you, really?”

20. Do a mental health check in. How are you, really? Write it out or talk it out with a friend (or your voice memos app).

21. Go to a playground and rediscover your favorite youthful pastimes like swinging and hanging on the monkey bars (just don’t steal the slide from the kiddos, okay?).

22. Keep a basket for garments that could use a little TLC. Instead of sipping on a boozy beverage while you watch your favorite show, give them a new life by darning them.

23. Or, make something new by picking up a stress-relieving fiber-based art — whether that’s sewing your own clothes, crocheting, embroidery or otherwise.

24. Make body butter or other zero waste toiletries.

25. Spend time pampering yourself in private. (These sex toys are a fun addition!)

26. Pack some hot cocoa and catch a sunset at the highest point in town.

27. Explore your family tree by contacting your family members to preserve their stories or via Ancestry.com.

28. Get inspired to live minimally by joining me in my love for the Never Too Small channel on YouTube.

29. Start a scrapbook and enjoy the walk down memory lane.

“Pack some hot cocoa and catch a sunset at the highest point in town.”

30. Have a bonfire (make sure it’s contained properly and check current fire regulations for your area first). Spend time with your loved ones — or just have a quiet evening alone.

31. Start learning a new language with one of these apps.

32. Go through your clothes and have a fashion show for yourself — what still fits? Which pieces suit your lifestyle? Only keep the pieces you love and resell or donate the garments that still have life left.

33. Set up a still life or find a beautiful location for inspiration, and dive into watercolor painting.

34. Need a little metaphor for picking up scattered pieces right now? Give puzzles a go.

35. Brush up on your basic survival skills and create preparedness plans for any emergencies in your area.

36. Get to those home repairs and projects that have been on your list for a while. (I’m looking at you, half-assembled TV stand.)

37. Follow a makeup tutorial online. (Seriously, someone please teach me how to use eyeliner.)

38. Take archery lessons and head to an archery range to practice what you’ve learned.

39. Get on a bike! It makes everyday local errands much more fun and fruitful, plus it’ll cut down on your gas usage.

40. Call your parent or grandparent, cousin, aunt, nephew — you get it. Get in touch with your family (chosen family works too!), and ask them how they’re feeling right now.

“Set up a still life or find a beautiful location for inspiration, and dive into watercolor painting.”

41. Or, write a letter to a dear friend who hasn’t heard from you in a while.

42. If you’re forgoing the price of drinks, why not order yourself an appetizer with your next takeout? Or better yet, get dessert. 🍰

43. Host a craft night. This is something you can do solo or with friends (even virtually!), and what you make is up to you. Giving yourself something to do with your hands is a helpful deterrent for habitual sipping.

44. Have you misplaced the hot glue gun, or just plain not into crafting? Grab some supplies for an at-home manicure and pamper yourself a bit.

45. Have a music sharing party. Ask for contributions to a Spotify playlist and spend an evening listening and sharing what’s on your heavy rotation.

46. Attend a sound bath, or listen to one virtually.

47. Set yourself up for an evening of reaching out to your elected officials, signing petitions, and advocating with others in your community (remember those high school classes that could have been improved? Reach out to your former principal!).

48. You can always write gratitude notes to your local officials as well. (Yes, even to that same former principal!)

49. Light a candle, then make your own candles! Repeat indefinitely. 🕯️

51. Take up gardening, whether it’s in a little window herb planter or a full-on indoor vertical garden

52. DIY a little punch-needle rug for your bathroom, bedroom, or kitchen — tutorial here.

53. Explore your surroundings in a surprising new way by going geocaching or becoming a Randonaut.

54. Clear out your inbox. Delete what you don’t need, file what you do, and unsubscribe to everything you’re not finding useful. While it may not sound fun, it has mental wellness benefits

55. Do an exercise outside of your usual movement routine; try out yoga, dance in the kitchen, or do slow and steady hill repeats

56. Take an afternoon nap! Bonus points if you have a person, pet, or cozy blanket to snuggle up with.

57. Video chat with someone in a different time zone than you. Have a friend or family member overseas? Stay up late or plan to wake up super early to chat with them and catch up.

58. Get your game face on and host a board game night. Don’t be afraid to try a new game. (These are some of my favorites, and Catan is always a winner, too!)

59. Do yourself a favor by prepping the chopping, marinating, and pureeing for all of the meals you will eat next week. Pop some dry beans into the crockpot while you’re at it — you’ll thank yourself later!

“Get your game face on and host a board game night.”

60. Or, cut down your food waste and toss your veggie scraps and ends into the freezer, then make a stock! Let ‘er simmer all day long and enjoy the aromas that come with it.

61. Play trivia with your friends or family — or just listen to a podcast like Triviality for casual and less competitive trivia.

62. Take a creative writing workshop, or organize a writing group of your own. Communicating about each other’s work and facilitating feedback are excellent skills to practice. If you’re not sure where to start, check out these writing prompts.

63. Plan a date night around cooking a new dish together. It can be as elaborate as you’d like — just put on your favorite playlist and enjoy doing something tactile with the person you love.

64. If you’re not feeling date night, bake yourself a loaf of bread. There’s nothing more satisfying than hand-kneading a gooey dough, smelling the yeast as it rises, and eating a slice of bread you made from scratch.

65. Take your sweet tooth to the next level by making candy at home. Toffee, truffles, and fudge, oh my!

66. Go to the library and browse for something new. If your local branches don’t stay open into the evenings, snag a book you’ve been meaning to read and head to a café or park with ample seating.

67. Or, support a local bookstore and peruse the aisles. Be sure to ask the staff for their favorites!

68. Take in some art and wander the halls of the closest art museum. Museums may be open into the evenings, or you may be able to find virtual versions of interesting exhibits.

69. Share an evening of massages with your partner. If you’re flying solo, you can always do a self-massage

“Take in some art and wander the halls of the closest art museum.”

70. Go bowling. It’s a stimulating, challenging, and competitive way to spend a weekend night. You can even join a league for a social outlet. Not your style? Maybe lace up and go roller skating instead.

71. Create a vision board. How often does a social night out get in the way of your grounding routines? If you’re an introvert like me, spending a couple of hours alone can help recharge and reset you on the path towards your goals.

72. Go down the YouTube rabbit hole. Catch up on late-night comedy, follow along with someone’s daily life, or even get involved as a vlogger. Why not?

73. Host a clothing swap. Here are some tips on how to do it.

74. Host your own painting night. Have everyone chip in a few bucks and snag some canvases and paints from a local craft store. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks top it all off.

75. Whether it’s old-school Nintendo or a new-age VR headset, break out the controller and get gaming. This is a great hobby to do solo, or hop online and connect with friends and new people! Here are some game suggestions for mindful play.

76. Take yourself to dinner and a movie, and enjoy your own company for an evening. (It’s more fun than it sounds.)

77. Catch a game from a local sports team, whether it’s a high school team, college athletes, or an intramural league. You might even end up joining them next season!

78. Or craft an elaborate snacking spread full of your favorite fruits and cheeses (if that’s your thing) and watch a game at home with your friends.

79. Look for jazz cafés, open mic nights, or community bands playing. Many cities and towns will have live music in public spaces, especially during the warmer months.

“Look for jazz cafés, open mic nights, or community bands playing.”

80. Go to a late-night yoga or fitness class, or take one virtually. It can be a pain when all you want to do is veg out on the couch, but you’ll sleep soundly and wake up feeling refreshed.

81. Borrow a shelter pup for the afternoon and take them on a walk. (Ask your local shelter if they do this.) Or if you have the time, space, and energy, foster a pet in need.

82. Have some spare shipping boxes that haven’t gone out to recycling yet? Make a castle for your pets, or just have fun improvising a cardboard creation.

83. Dye your hair or try cutting it at home. (It’s not so scary, I promise — but it’s also great to trust a professional!)

84. Create care packages to send to seniors or folks in need in your community.

85. Put together a playlist, turn on a disco light, and grab your dancing shoes. Yep — it’s a dance party at home! You can even take dance classes online.

86. Try your hand at tie-dyeing or freshen up an old t-shirt with this guide to DIY natural dyes

87. Give birdwatching a go. 🐦 👀

88. Extend your to-read list using this website or by exploring glowing reviews on Goodreads. You can even sign up for a book subscription service and let someone else curate your list for you.

89. Then start a book club, whether in-person or virtually and discuss your favorites with a group of your peers.

90. Find a local chapter of Toastmasters and confront your fear of public speaking (or fine-tune your already-fabulous skill!).

“Put together a playlist, turn on a disco light, and grab your dancing shoes. Yep — it’s a dance party at home!”

91. Paint a room in your home a color you’ve always been nervous to try out — if it doesn’t work, you can paint it back. (Or try one of these peel-and-stick wallpapers instead.)

92. Take a factory tour of a local production business. (Strangely, touring a pickle factory has been one of my favorite adventures with my family.)

93. Have a pizza-making party. Let your friends and family each toss their own crust and add their toppings of choice. You can also make the dough from scratch, though we don’t have to be overachievers. 😉

94. Read and subscribe to a magazine in your field of interest — you may even be able to find ‘zines made by members from your community at the local bookstore.

95. Lace up your hiking boots, whether you’re going with a group or for a solo hike, and find scenic trails near you for a good ol’ afternoon hike.

96. Then learn how to forage safely, sustainably, and successfully. Teach others to do it as well!

97. Join a sober group on Reddit or Facebook, if that’s your jam. This may take some careful vetting to find one that works best for you.

98. Whether it’s a guitar, piano, or that old recorder you had in fourth grade, pick up a musical instrument and a beginners book. (You can find lots of instruments secondhand online.) You may be bad at first, but you’ll get better. Toot, toot!

99. Go. To. Bed. Early. Tuck yourself in earlier than normal and wake up feeling fresh and being fully rested at your own pace. If you want extra motivation to get to sleep, plan an early morning meetup with a friend.

The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.

We’ve researched and tested dozens of wine clubs — these are our picks for the best natural, sustainable, or organically farmed wines across a range of price points.

To elevate our at-home dining experiences, we’re turning to wine for the perfect touch. Reds are for our cozy evenings indoors, and sparkling whites make for the most bubbly happy hour at the park. But with thousands of wines around the world, it’s hard to know which one to choose — we can’t be the only ones overwhelmed in fancy bottle shops, right? That’s why we turn to wine subscriptions for easy and stress-free selections from a wide variety of quality wines.

Why choose organic wine?

Organic wine is a great choice if you’re looking to be more conscious of the ingredients you’re choosing to consume. They reduce the risk of consuming pesticides and synthetics from conventional grapes, and they’re GMO-free. Consuming organic wine is also better for the environment as organic vineyards prioritize soil health, water conservation processes, and renewable energy use, lowering their overall carbon footprint. Some even say that the true and authentic terroir of organic wine shines through more than in conventional wines where added synthetics can impact the flavor. The more you know!

Our methodology:

For this guide, we’ve researched and tested wines from some of the best natural winemakers and sommeliers responsibly sourcing from around the globe, from California to Italy, — you’re welcome! In our opinion, these wine clubs and subscription services curate the best natural, sustainable, or organically farmed wines (and then deliver them directly to your doorstep!) We’ll cheers to that. 🥂

Why ARMRA Colostrum™ Is My No-Hype Supplement Of Choice https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/armra-colostrum-review/ https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/armra-colostrum-review/#respond Thu, 26 Feb 2026 18:59:23 +0000 https://www.thegoodtrade.com/?p=64601 I tried ARMRA after hearing the hype, and was an instant fan. I noticed a real change in my energy, recovery time, digestion, and even my skin.

The post Why ARMRA Colostrum™ Is My No-Hype Supplement Of Choice appeared first on The Good Trade.

]]>
Summary: ARMRA uses the highest quality grass-fed and calf-first sourced bovine colostrum from family dairy farms in the USA to create a third-party tested and science-backed powerhouse for gut, immune, and performance support. After testing for almost a month, I can honestly say that I am a huge fan. I noticed a boost in my energy levels and reduction in my recovery time from weight training since becoming part of my daily routine. My digestion also improved, and I’ve been generally more regular and less bloated. I’ve even noticed a change in my skin! I know collagen is having a wellness moment, but ARMRA is all substance, no hype.

What I love:

 • ARMRA is the real deal: Physician-founded, science-backed, and third-party tested, made with the best quality American-made ingredients.
 • A little goes a long way — the scoop is tiny! No choking down tons of powder if you try dry scooping.
 • It’s super easy to incorporate into any wellness routine, since all you have to do is add a scoop to any cold drink (or directly into your mouth!).
 • If you’re into gut-first immune support, the 400+ bioactive nutrients have got you covered.
 • Tons of reviewers swear their hair growth was noticeable after three months, so I’m looking forward to that! I have noticed my nails are stronger, even without taking my old biotin supplements.

Things to keep in mind:

 • Cold drinks only! Unlike collagen peptides, ARMRA Colostrum™ should not be added to hot drinks, which can degrade its potency.
 • It never totally mixes in, and the Unflavored one is not exactly “unflavored” at all. Even the website calls it “malty.”
 • If you’re going to try dry scooping, only do so with ARMRA Unflavored. (Save the flavors for sipping.)
 • ARMRA is in the midst of a packaging refresh. During this transition period, you may receive your ARMRA in packaging with either the current or new labeling. Know that it’s the same great quality (no change to the formulation or ingredient) and same benefits.

ARMRA is offering our readers 30% off your first subscription order with code GOODTRADE30

I had never heard of colostrum until I was pregnant and learning about breast milk. Since it’s having a real moment right now, you’re probably familiar with the stuff — but in case you aren’t, here’s the scoop: All mammals produce colostrum in the first few days after giving birth before their milk comes in. For any nursing mammal, it is the first form of nutrition they receive in their initial vulnerable days of life. Colostrum is packed with powerful nutrients we need to survive in those first days of life, many of which are not found in any other natural source. For this reason (and perhaps also for its sort of yellow-ish hue), it is often referred to as “liquid gold.”

“Colostrum is packed with powerful nutrients we need to survive in those first days of life, many of which are not found in any other natural source.”

My layman’s understanding of colostrum is that it is very good stuff that helps support newborns’ immune systems as they adjust to life outside the womb. And apparently, colostrum can do the same for fully grown adults, too!

What is colostrum, and what does it do?

Here’s my interpretation of how it all works (though you can read an infinitely more scientific explanation on ARMRA’s website): Our bodies have a few lines of defense against all the environmental threats we encounter simply by existing. As we breathe and swallow, we inhale and ingest all kinds of disruptors, such as pollutants and chemicals, that can wear down our defenses. Our exterior barrier is our skin, and the next line of defense is our mucosal barrier. Our mucosal barrier lines everything in our sinuses, lungs, and gut, creating a protective shield. The mucosal barrier can become impaired, however, allowing harmful particles to penetrate its defenses and compromise our health.

So just like we try to strengthen our skin barrier with nontoxic skincare, ARMRA can fortify our barriers by turning to a resource from our own biology: Colostrum, that 300 million-year-old bioactive food and liquid gold that nourished, protected, and vitalized us in our very first stage of life.

“ARMRA can fortify our barriers by turning to a resource from our own biology: Colostrum.”

Containing nothing but 100% of the best quality bovine colostrum, I wanted to see for myself if ARMRA lived up to the hype. Because there is a lot of hype.

I’ve only been taking it for about a month, but it has already made a huge impact on my daily life. I’ve actually noticed the change — everything from better poops to shorter recovery periods after heavy weight lifting days, and even an improvement in my mood and energy during a typically sluggish period in my cycle. My nails have even gotten stronger!

So is ARMRA the miracle product it claims to be? (Spoiler: Signs are pointing to YES.)

About ARMRA

ARMRA was founded by Dr. Sarah Rahal — a double board-certified pediatric neurologist after a health crisis that nearly took her life. During her time in a pediatric practice, she was alarmed by the high rate of chronic diseases she was seeing in her young patients. Through her research, Dr. Rahal discovered thousands of publications showing the powerful impact of bovine colostrum in human health: These studies showed the positive impact colostrum and its bioactives had on gut health, immune health, fitness performance and recovery, metabolism, and energy.

“Through her research, Dr. Rahal discovered thousands of publications showing the powerful impact of bovine colostrum in human health.”

Dr. Rahal’s work led to the development of ARMRA Colostrum™, using pure colostrum from grass-fed cows raised on family-owned U.S. dairy farms. (ARMRA also follows calf-first sourcing, meaning they only use excess, overflow colostrum after calves have been fully fed.) What makes ARMRA so unique is their proprietary Cold-Chain BioPotent™ Pasteurization Technology, which concentrates 400+ functional nutrients in colostrum, capturing them in their most natural and bioavailable form. It also removes unnecessary compounds like casein and fat, leaving a potent product that is ideal for human consumption.

With an unwavering belief in the evolutionary power of our bodies, ARMRA aims to restore our “original blueprint” for optimal health. Colostrum is an ancestral input that comes packed with all the good stuff (the website lists “protective antibodies, whole food prebiotics, strengthening peptides, free amino acids, trace minerals, immunoglobulins, tissue growth factors, antioxidants, adaptogens, mitochondrial regenerators, and other supportive compounds”) to help our bodies thrive.

Okay but what does it taste like? And how can you tell it’s working? And do you have to dry scoop? 😅

ARMRA Health Revival, Unflavored Jar |$110
ARMRA Vine Watermelon Travel Sticks | $50

So I’ll be honest: I probably put ARMRA in my cart and then took it out almost a dozen times before finally getting to try this stuff. The price tag is tough! But one of our editors who swears by ARMRA and puts it in her daily smoothie promised me that the jar lasts forever. I was skeptical, but when I finally took the plunge and saw how teeny tiny the serving size was, I breathed a sigh of relief. After a little over a month, it seems like I’ve barely made a dent in the jar at all!

The products arrive quickly in simple recyclable packaging. The instructions are straightforward: Mix into any cold beverage up to four times daily. I started with the watermelon because, well, I am a baby, and I was sort of nervous about the unflavored one. “Unflavored” to a health and wellness brand and “unflavored” to me are rarely in the same zip code, and I wanted to ease in.

The flavored product includes the same high quality bovine colostrum, but also has malic acid, organic natural watermelon flavoring, organic stevia leaf extract, and dragon fruit for color. It is a pleasant light pink and has a tart aroma. I was expecting that too-sweet stevia aftertaste but it never came — the watermelon flavor was fresh and a little sweet, but also zippy and bright. It tasted like candy, but without that sugary mouthfeel. I loved it!

“My one gripe is that I could not, no matter what I tried, get the powder to fully dissolve.”

My one gripe is that I could not, no matter what I tried, get the powder to fully dissolve. Nary a frother nor spoon could crack the code. I tried adding it to water, I tried mixing wet into dry, and I even tried making a roux by mixing a small amount of water into the powder first until it was a smooth paste and then adding more water gradually. No matter what, there was always a little clumping.

Luckily, the stuff tasted like a Pixie Stick, so chewing it wasn’t exactly a deal breaker.

Realizing that it was never going to fully dissolve did make me quite nervous about the unflavored one, so I decided to try my editor’s method and add it to a smoothie. I have been putting collagen peptides in my smoothies for years, and I usually run into a similar dissolvability hurdle unless I use a milk frother on it in a small amount of coconut water first. But I wanted to see how the colostrum would fare by simply dumping it in with the rest of the smoothie ingredients first.

I was delighted and surprised to see that it completely disappeared! No weird little pockets of powder at all! I am a notoriously slow drinker, and so my smoothies often separate a little as the morning wears on, but that never happened with my ARMRA batches.

The brand recommends “dry scooping,” which is essentially just taking your little scoop of colostrum and shooting it directly into your mouth. This maximizes contact with the mucosal surfaces of the mouth and esophagus, which can have added benefit. But y’all, I couldn’t do it. I am just not hardcore when it comes to animal product food stuffs, and as I’m entering my 40s, I’m accepting this about myself.

The brand also suggested sprinkling it on yogurt or mixing it into food — anything that isn’t hot. I will say that I tried a watermelon seltzer in my experimentation to get the travel sticks to dissolve, and the drink absolutely exploded. (It was delicious, though!)

I felt pretty happy with my watermelon waters and colostrum smoothies, so I decided I didn’t need to experiment too much more with any other method.

The first few days, I stuck with one scoop, and then I increased my daily intake to two scoops for the rest of the week. At first, I didn’t notice much beyond an additional sense of urgency to my morning poop. It wasn’t until after the first two weeks of consistently taking it daily (and at that point increasing to the full four scoops) that I started to notice the effects, starting with my nails.

“It wasn’t until after the first two weeks of consistently taking it daily (and at that point increasing to the full four scoops) that I started to notice the effects, starting with my nails.”

I had forgotten to clip my nails like I usually do over the weekend, but by midweek, I noticed that my longer nails seemed really healthy and strong. I decided to shape them with a file and see how long I could go before they started to peel, break, or show signs of weakness. It ended up being a game of chicken, because my nails stayed strong — finally, almost two weeks after missing their usual clipping routine, I couldn’t take the length anymore and cut them. They were noticeably tough!

I also noticed that after a particularly tough weights workout, my second-day soreness never really came. I realized that the waistband on my favorite pair of shorts was sitting quite comfortably during the first day of my period, when I’m usually struggling with bloating. My skin has been looking brighter too, and though it’s always hard to tell so soon, I’m willing to put money on my hair getting thicker by the day.

“I realized that the waistband on my favorite pair of shorts was sitting quite comfortably during the first day of my period, when I’m usually struggling with bloating.”

Since my jar is still full, I’m locking into my ARMRA four scoops a day. I’m confident it’s going to help my body perform at its best!

My final thoughts

I am not going to sugarcoat it: $100 for a small jar of powder is not a fun purchase. And it’s certainly not in everyone’s budget.

“ARMRA nourishes and strengthens our natural systems on a cellular level, so our bodies can be the miraculous performers they were made to be.”

I’ve researched and tested dozens of probiotics for women’s gut health —these are my top picks for their natural, high quality ingredients and potent AFUs/CFUs.

Looking to support your gut health? Me too. Gut health is essential to wellness and feeling good in our bodies, as “our microbiome…helps to shape our immune system,” according to transplant gastroenterologist Dr. Shilpa Ravella. Since a large portion of our immune system lives in the gut, it’s important to nourish our gut microbiota through promoting antibody production, and reducing inflammation — all of which probiotics do! Probiotics support our gut health in more ways than one. From balancing bacteria in the gut to improving digestive health, managing IBS, and even mood and cognitive function, a high quality probiotic goes a long way.

Although I’ve taken probiotics before, I’ve never explored the world of natural, high-quality, clean probiotics to support feminine health. And I probably should have sooner, considering my history of tummy aches galore and UTIs every time I look at a wet bathing suit for too long. Testing these probiotics has shown me the very best of natural probiotics for women, and each one on the list has their numerous benefits. While some are stronger for gut health and some are stronger for feminine health, you really can’t go wrong with these. I, for one, am feeling better than ever!

Seed vs. AG1 vs. Ritual – What makes a good probiotic?

With all the information out there on the types and strains of probiotics that help support our gut needs, it can be confusing to know where to start. That’s why when choosing the best probiotic for gut health, it’s important to consider the following:

Strain Type & Diversity: A good probiotic should specify which strains are in their product, as some strains can support certain health needs better or have unique properties and benefits. Generally, a probiotic with a highly diverse strain composition is more beneficial to gut heath.

Shelf Stability & Survivability: Since probiotics are living organisms, they won’t be of much help if they are not active. A good probiotic will list whether it’s shelf-stable or requires refrigeration (both options are good!), and its guaranteed potency through its expiry date. Also ensuring the probiotic you choose offers a timed release or enteric-coating is beneficial, as these both protect probiotics from harsh stomach acids, which can reduce their effectiveness before they reach your intestines.

Synbiotic Formula: While most probiotics don’t contain pre- or post- biotics, formulas that do will help probiotics thrive, grow and remain active. (We’ve included ones that do in this list!) With synbiotic formulas, you’ll achieve better and more well-rounded support that assists in feeding the healthy bacteria in the gut and maintaining the integrity of the gut barrier.

AFU: While CFU is common in assessing how many living and reproducing microorganisms are in a probiotic supplement, AFU offers a more functional and accurate representation of microorganism count. AFU assesses how many living and metabolically active cells exist using a fluorescent dye test, whereas CFU involves counting colonies through a culture sample (which thrives only in certain conditions). Through this assessment, AFU measurements provide valuable insight into the viability and ability of microorganisms to survive under different conditions, which is a crucial factor in the effectiveness of a good probiotic. It’s important to note that neither one is necessarily better than the other, simply AFU provides a much more accurate snapshot of microorganism count than CFU.

Now, when it comes to effective probiotic options, Seed, AG1, and Ritual are popular choices on the market, but how do they compare? When it comes to strain type and diversity, Seed takes the lead with 24 probiotic strains that support digestive, skin, and cardiovascular health. Both Seed and Ritual are shelf-stable and offer delayed release, and all three formulas offer synbiotic properties. When it comes to AFU/CFU count, Seed has 53.6 billion AFU, Ritual has 11 billion CFU, and AG1 has 7.2 billion CFU.

Ritual is a great choice if your looking for daily gut support, while Seed is an option to turn to if you require a higher level of digestive and whole body support. We recommend AG1 if you’re always on the go and have a harder time meeting your nutrition goals as it contains over 75 ingredients to help support whole body health, in addition to probiotics. When comparing these three products, there are areas where one thrives over another — however we agree that each of these brands offers high quality formulas that will benefit your gut health needs.

In this guide, we’ve covered the ins and outs of what these popular probiotics offer, as well as a few more of our favorite brands, so you can make the most informed decision for your health.

Why should women consider taking probiotics?

While probiotics are incredibly helpful for anyone, it’s especially important for women, as probiotics can help to balance vaginal PH levels and prevent conditions like yeast infections, BV, and UTIs. When it comes to gut health, it’s true that the gut is the second brain, and making sure you have a healthy gut microbiome can set the stage for better digestion, less bloating, a stronger immune system, clearer skin, and even improvements in mood! Especially if you already struggle with gut or feminine health issues, probiotics can be a total game-changer for women.

Our criteria & methodology:

After careful selection by our editorial team, The Good Trade was sent or purchased these probiotics for review. As I went through my testing with each brand, there were a few factors I paid the closest attention to. While I mostly focused on how my gut health and feminine health felt throughout my testing window, I also weighed other factors like taste, ease of taking, acclimation time, and cost. I also was particularly interested to see if any of the probiotics could tackle both feminine health and gut health concurrently. We regularly update this piece with emerging favorites that meet the criteria below, so check back!

 • NATURAL, HIGH QUALITY INGREDIENTS | Each of these probiotics is made from ingredients that are naturally sourced, tested, and proven effective. No fillers, gums, or binders here!
 • AFFORDABILITY | We’ve offered a variety of options at various price points, while prioritizing more affordable choices for better accessibility.
 • ACTIVE FLUORESCENT UNITS (AFU) | We’ve done the work for you by including the best brands that provide detailed CFU count (and AFU where available).

The below brands are the best of the best when it comes to science-backed and clinically proven pre-, pro- and postbiotics. From third-party testing to sustainable production to superb ingredients that ensure our guts are healthy and happy, these gut health supplements keep everything regular and flowing. 😉

If you’re look to up your supplement routine to more natural products with organic ingredients, we’ve got you covered with our guides on best magnesium supplements, fiber supplements, and women’s multivitamins to help keep your health in tip-top shape.

Our Editor Review | “Seed is truly such an amazing probiotic. One of the beauties of seed is that they offer their DS-01, a capsule for gut health and their VS-01, a suppository for vaginal health, so you can get everything you need in one place. When I started taking the DS-01 I noticed an immediate improvement in my digestion and bloating. Even around my menstrual cycle, my bloating has been much less extreme than usual. An added benefit is just how clear my skin has been on Seed’s DS-01! After having a bit of random acne and trying new skincare products to no avail, Seed cleared me up within a week and I noticed a serious glow after two. I love that this is a prebiotic and probiotic together, and it’s one of the most powerful I’ve found in pill form. Their VS-01 is also incredible. I love that it’s non-irritating, with no Phthalates or artificial dyes or fragrances. It’s truly the perfect reset if you’re feeling a bit off down there from swimming, taking prescription medication, stress, or being off your usual routine.”

Our Editor Review | “I noticed an immediate difference with these, especially when it came to settling my stomach. My digestion is so much smoother, and I’m much less prone to stomach aches and food sensitivity. I tend to have trouble with gluten and dairy, but I can take it in moderation without noticing much of a difference when I take Ritual. I feel the difference all day long due to the extended release, especially when I take it on an empty stomach. Plus, I love their minty smell — it’s very soothing!”

Our editors are big fans of AG1 (formerly Athletic Greens) for daily greens, vitamins and nutrients, and — yes — pre- and probiotics. (Read our review here!) One yummy scoop of this green powder (mix with water or add to your morning smoothie) includes 75 superpower ingredients for gut and whole body health — including nutrient-dense extracts, herbs, and antioxidants, digestive enzymes, phytonutrients, multiminerals, and so much more. We love that AG1 can be enjoyed as a morning beverage, especially if you have difficulty swallowing pills. The travel packs are an easy option to take on the go so we never miss our daily serving.

Our Editor Review | “Even though I’m not someone who has any trouble swallowing pills, AG1 is such a nice way to break up the vitamin lineup and enjoy a beverage instead. It tastes amazing, which isn’t always a given with green powders. I love how versatile it is; it’s so refreshing in water after my morning workout and it’s so easy to toss a scoop into my smoothie. The formula is also incredible. I love that AG1 contains my daily prebiotics, probiotics, and daily greens. I feel so much more hydrated and less bloated when I take it, much more than I do when I take probiotics in a pill form. I notice the most dramatic impact when I drink it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning.

Our Editor Review | “I love Thorne for everything, but their probiotics in particular do wonders. I was particularly interested in checking these out, as I’m prone to UTIs, and I didn’t have a single one when I took them. I tried these out by taking them daily when I was on a trip where I was frequently in my swimsuit, in and out of chlorinated water. I trust these to keep everything steady and balanced, even when I’m doing PH-risky activities like swimming and tanning in my swimsuit. Buying fair trade takes a stand for a system that treats everyone with respect.

Many times, chocolate is oh-so-much more than just candy. In its natural form, it’s a superfood packed with antioxidants and cardiovascular benefits, and studies show chocolate boosts energy, reduces stress, increases concentration and even improves maternal health. This playful, nutrient-dense treat is the perfect pick-me-up and superfood recharge.

“When we buy fair trade products, we are casting a vote for the ethical treatment of the laborers around the world who are responsible for the food we eat.”

So we know chocolate is good for us. But what about the farmers who grow it? The International Labor Organization estimates that there are millions of child laborers working to produce many of our everyday purchases such as coffee and cocoa. As you might imagine, forced laborers are exploited for their work, forced to work long hours with little or no pay, and have little rights.

When we buy fair trade products, we are casting a vote for the ethical treatment of the laborers around the world who are responsible for the food we eat. Fair trade sourcing means not only are workers paid fairly but also they have safe and environmentally-friendly working conditions.

These conscious chocolate brands have made it an integral part of their mission to develop mutually beneficial partnerships by employing fair trade and direct trade practices with the farmers who cultivate their cocoa crops. Oh—and they make delicious good-for-you chocolate.

When flu and cold season hits, we like to use natural ways to boost our immune systems. These are our favorite supplements for keeping you and your family healthy and protected.

A robust immune system offers us complex and multifaceted protection against a host of unavoidable exposures to pathogens. The more tuned up your immune system, the more natural protection and fighting power you gain against illness-causing germs and toxins that wreak havoc on your health. But stress, seasonal weather changes, gut health, and a host of other factors can influence the strength and ability of our natural immune defenses, challenging its power and protection. If your body is out of balance or overloaded at the moment — or if you feel yourself coming down with something — supporting your natural immunity with immune-boosting supplements makes a whole lot of sense.

Immune support supplements can reinforce and optimize your body’s natural defenses against outside threats in many ways. These include increasing your intake of vitamins and nutrients that are used by your immune system to function, reducing the length of time of illness when already sick, and fortifying the barriers and linings the body uses to keep the “ick” out in the first place. Many immune support supplements are safe for any age, offering a bubble of protection and immune fortification for the entire family, even against the toughest school and work party germs! (Plus, we’ve even included an option formulated just for kids.)

What ingredients should you look for in immune support supplements?

While the effectiveness of some immune support supplements can be controversial, we do know certain ingredients are proven to be effective in supporting not just the immune system but overall health so the immune system can stay functional and focused. Since our immune system has both an innate and an adaptive capacity, we want to be sure we are well-rounded in our approach. When seeking an immune support supplement, you want to be sure you are supporting it with some or all of the following proven ingredients:

 • Vitamin C: Vitamin C is crucial to the proper function of the immune response system. It helps B cells differentiate and produce antibodies that neutralize threats like bacteria and viruses. Vitamin C also enhances the process in which a cell destroys invading microorganisms and is essential to maintaining the epithelial barrier, which protects us against pathogens entering the bloodstream.
 • Elderberry: Elderberry extract is effective in blocking influenza A, influenza B, and H1N1 viruses. It contains flavonoids that are said to reduce inflammation and protect cells. It can be taken as a preventative but taking it at symptom onset can also shorten the duration of an illness. This is also safe to be taken at any age, for long periods of time with no risk or adverse effects.
 • Zinc: Zinc is used in the development and function of T-cells, which are responsible for moderating the body’s inflammatory response during times of immune stress.
 • Vitamin D: Maintaining adequate levels of Vitamin D improves immune health and decreases susceptibility to autoimmune diseases. Vitamin D also helps regulate the adaptive immune system.
 • Colostrum: Colostrum is a protein and nutrient-rich liquid produced by mammals after birth. Not only does it help sustain a newborn and ward off infection, but research shows that when taken through all stages of life, it helps maintain and enhance mucosal lining on your skin, lungs, and gut barriers. Most colostrum supplements are sourced from cows and contain immunoglobulins and antibodies that interact with immune cells in the gut to trigger a beneficial immune response. Just note that colostrum is not dairy-free!
