I feel that these days, anyone who asks you why you are single (unless it’s your 85 year old grandmother) is out of touch with the reality of women knowing they don’t need a man in their lives to be happy.
When I meet a woman who is, or has been single for a while, I see someone who has it all together.

Aromantic people exist and oftentimes people who are not aware of our orientations will ask this question!

Also, being aromantic =/= being asexual. Not sure what the implication at the end of this article was, but not all asexuals are aromantic (Alloromantic Asexuals) and they want and can be in romantic relationships just like … every other non aromantic person.

As an Aromantic Allosexual it is an exhausting assumption for people to constantly make, especially as up until very recently (as in, literally maybe the past 2 years or so), the *vast majority* of aromantic experiences you can find are centered around Aroace ones.

How about, I am 52 and after meeting some horrible partners out there that were extremely abusive and men that were disrespectful, condescending, threatened by me being a successful professional woman and men who are angry at me that my career was important to me. The last date I had over 10 years ago was with a police officer that got arrested for sexual harassment with 4 women and I won’t even get into what took place during our date. How about, I lost a friend in a murder-suicide over 10 years ago and at this point I have lost complete hope in men and that I no longer believe I will ever meet that special someone who is loving, respectful, honest, kind, compassionate….and I deserve that. Although I believe there are some good people out there, I believe that somehow I have been attracting all this to me and so I no longer have trust in myself with making the right decision when it comes to dating. I dated a lot when I was younger and even had quite a bit of fun but when it came time to settle down…it all went wrong….so maybe society feels they have a right to judge me and want to convince themselves that something is really wrong with me but I say BUCK UP men. There are powerful career oriented women out there and us women welcome supportive and understanding partners (trust me when I say I would give my all to the right partner). Now and if you can’t handle it then back off please cause know this, since I have decided to spend my life as a single woman, I am starting to love myself and respect myself and have much admiration for all I have done in my life (and the strenght I have) and no one will ever take this away from me so unless there is someone out there that would like to share a loving and equal partnership with lots of laughter…I will stay single!
